Lovebirds and Doves
Lovebirtds and doves are Valentines Day symbols. It is believed that on February 14th the birds found their mates. And also because the doves strongly signify purity and innocence. They are extremely loyal to their partners and unlike many other animals that change their partners, the doves remain with their first partner till the end of their life. The lovebirds are small 13-17 cm in size, 40-60 grams in weight. This makes them one of the smallest parrots in the world.
A legend says that the goddess Venus considered the doves as sacred because of their loyalty to their partner. The cooing sound which the birds made is compared with the love words that the people in love use. And that is why in our days the sugary language which the lovers use is known as cooing.
The blue colored lovebirds first are known as other Valentines Day symbol. They were found in Africa. They got their name because they sit always close to their mate as the people who are in love do. They can not think about their lives without their partners. And as the young lovers want to keep their privacy, the lovebirds keep themselves in pairs too. They are always full of energy and if you have them in your home you will never feel bored and alone. They are very clever- they can escape from their cage, they can mimic your voice, so you have to be careful with them.
There are different spices. Sometimes the birds are called after their color: there are pink lovebirds, blue lovebirds, peach lovebirds, green lovebirds. So now if you want to buy a pair for your love you have to choose the color too.
