In USA, UK, Canada, Mexico, France and Australia St. Valentines Day is national holiday. But in different countries people have different traditions on this day.

In Austria the boys had to perform the girl they like to their parents …using only flowers. The flowers and its special structure had to express the girls’ character.

In Spain the husbands had to send a bunch of red roses to their wives, no matter how far away they were each other on that day.

In Denmark the people preferred the “invisible cards”. It was possible to read the message only if you heat the card. You can do the same if you use lemon juice to write.

The French people had special ceremony for the unmarried girls and boys. They had to paint or make theirs photo and to hang it on door of the person who they like. If he or she doesn’t like them has to burn this photo till the end of the day.

In Italy a time ago, people celebrated a Spring Festival. They played music, sung songs. In Torino still most of the couples engage on this date. Also they buy a lot of cookies to decorate the table and the house.

In Scotland there is a festival on St. Valentine’s Day. Unmarried boys and girls wrote their names on papers. Each one of them had to choose a piece and to spend the rest of the festival with this girl.

In Australia they had a special custom. If somebody finds gold in this day he had to pay the Valentines Cards to the rest of the unmarried men. Of course, having in mind that they didn’t have to pay for these cards they’ve ordered always the most beautiful and the most expensive ones-with silk, ribbons, golden letters.

In England most of the magazines and newspapers publish different poems and songs. In Wells the boys and the girls make wooden love spoons and give them as a gift on February 14.Hearts ,,keys and lockers are the most traditional decorations because their clear meaning is “Unlock my heart.”.
